"Famous star and prima ballerina"
Angelina, "Lights, Camera, Action"

Angelina Ballerina is a British animated children's television series, based on the Angelina Ballerina series of children's books by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. Because both PBS and HiT Entertainment co-owned Sprout when the channel was launched, they aired a variety of shows from both their archive libraries on Sprout, including reruns of Angelina Ballerina.

Plot[]

"Angelina Ballerina is a little star with big dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. This feisty little mouse works hard to reach her goal and along the way, always learns from her mistakes. When little girls share in Angelina's experiences, they're inspired to go after their big dreams too!" (link)

For Parents[]

"Did you know preschoolers love to "talk" with their bodies? Let them express themselves through dance and movement!"

History on Sprout[]

The show was one out of many to be aired on-demand, with selected episodes airing under the "Children's Favorites" label (and eventually in its own label). It joined the network at launch in 2005.

The show aired at 11AM EST and PT/10AM CT and 8:30 EST and PT/7:30 CT when Sprout launched, and later at 4PM EST and PT/3PM CT when The Sprout Sharing Show launched. In 2010, it replaced Dragon Tales on The Good Night Show schedule after the aforementioned program was removed from both PBS and Sprout.

It has a Sprout Diner snack, Angelina's Ballet Slippers, and Dame Judi Dench's daughter, Finty Williams reprises her role as the titular character.

It has a Birthday Show snack, Angelina's Tutu Treat. The segment was included in a Sprout Sharing Show promo and in the Birthday Parties podcast.

It has a CGI spinoff called Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps which aired on PBS and, ironically enough, Sprout. It is unknown when this show left, probably when the former show premiered.

The season 1 episode "The Ballerina Rag Doll" was included in Lend a Helping Hand.

The special based on the show, "All Dancers on Deck" ("Angelina Sets Sail") aired on Sprout a few times. It premiered on April 20th during Sprout's Dance Party[1] and aired twice during the Hooray for the Holidays festitivites the same year along with "Angelina's Princess Dance."

"Angelina Ballerina and all her friends work together to put on very special dance performances this holiday season. Watch "All Dancers On Deck" on December 22 at 5pm ET and December 25! Watch "Princess Dance" on December 19 at 5pm ET, December 23 at 5pm ET and December 25!" (link )
