The Let's Go Show was a programming block created by Sprout. It aired every afternoon from 3 PM to 6 PM from June 25th, 2007 until May 4th, 2008, the day The Sprout Sharing Show moved to this time slot. The Let's Go Show moved to weekend mornings from 6 AM to 9 AM until the block's closure. It is designed to encourage preschoolers to ask questions and be curious about the world around them.

On September 19, 2010, The Let's Go Show was pulled off the schedule along with Boomerang on October 23, 2011, replaced with a weekend edition of The Sunny Side Up Show, which introduced Noodle and Doodle.

Premise[]

From the Sprout Press Room:

"Airing every Saturday and Sunday, this hosted programming block encourages preschoolers to ask questions, be curious about the world around them and participate in a daily musical adventure. Host Miles and his puppy friend Banjo, an adorable and spirited puppet who loves to play her homemade banjo, embark each afternoon on a musical journey. Miles loves to sing, discover new things and connect with viewers to help them learn through humor, music and interactive play. Always ready for adventure, Banjo represents the wonder, energy and curiosity of a preschooler. The show also weaves in episodes of kids’ favorite shows, including Bob The Builder,™ and Angelina Ballerina™." (link)

Program goals[]

"The Let’s Go Show encourages preschoolers to ask questions, be curious about their world and participate in a daily musical adventure. Questions are posed on-air and viewers are encouraged to try to figure out the answers at home or by visiting SproutOnline.com to find out more."

Interactive components[]

"The Let’s Go Show section of SproutOnline.com provides preschoolers and their parents and caregivers another opportunity to explore key activities from the show. The Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), a professional service organization representing more than 350 children’s museums around the world, worked with member museums to provide child-friendly and scientifically accurate explanations for all the experiments featured on season one of The Let’s Go Show."

Co-viewing components[]

"This interactive show creates opportunities for preschoolers and their parents and caregivers to jointly participate in activities, such as fun, age-appropriate science experiments, craft projects, songs and healthy snack preparation."

History[]

2000s[]

The block was first announced by Sprout on May 7, 2007 at day one in NCTA in Las Vegas,[1] and first appeared on Sprout's lineup on June 25, 2007 as an afternoon block.

Just a year after it came out, in 2008, The Let's Go Show moved to weekend mornings from 6AM to 12PM ET in order to make room for The Sprout Sharing Show.

"Don't miss out on the fun! The Let's Go Show has a new time. Tune in at 6am and 9am ET on weekends to continue your journey with Miles and Banjo. And don't forget to check out games, activities, new discoveries, crafts and more." (link)

With the second season in 2008, "Sprout Scouts" were encouraged to send in their photos of trips they took and see them on TV.[2]

2010s[]

In 2010, when The Sunny Side Up Show now broadcast on weekends and started airing Noodle and Doodle, The Let's Go Show dissolved. Since it also aired on weekends from 6AM to 9AM, this timeslot became unblocked as Good Morning (because Wiggly Waffle is weekdays only and some preschoolers don’t wake up on early mornings on weekends), although its page remained up on SproutOnline.com until 2013, when the site was rebranded.

Cast[]

  • Miles is the host of the program. He is portrayed by Milton Barnes.
  • Banjo is a pink dog puppet. She is very spunky and loves to play the banjo. She is played by Ali J. Eisner.
  • Carla is Miles and Banjo's cardboard car.

Notes[]

  • One of the locations in the show was the Sprout Diner Café, themed after Sprout Diner. It was often shown during recipe segments.
  • A few recipes from the block were rebranded once it left the channel. ("Banjo's Baked Iceberg" was rethemed to Franny's Feet,[3] "Banjo's Beautiful Butterflies" was rethemed to Chloe's Closet,[4] "Banjo's Banana Dog" was rethemed to Monkey See Monkey Do,[5] "Miles' Moon and Stars" was rethemed to Apollo from Pajanimals,[6] and "Teeny Tiny Tea Treats" was also rethemed to Pajanimals, this time to Cowbella.[7] Similarly, "Tuna Fishin' Sandwiches" was rethemed to The Sunny Side Up Show as early as 2013.[8]
  • Banjo's puppet was later recycled for the character Meeka in the interstitial series, Sprout Control Room.
  • Miles appeared on The Sunny Side Up Show during New Year's 2008.[9]
  • The block was filmed at Wallace Film Studios in Toronto, Canada.
  • Nina guest starred in the episodes Concert and Fiesta.[10]
